MEMBER COLLECTIONS:
- There is a wide variety of collections among our Chapter 33 members as well as other chapters in Canada and the USA.
- Clock and Watch collections can be categorized into many varieties, nationalities, mechanically related devices, tools, industries like railway and really whatever like minded people come up with.
- This area of our website is envisioned as a forum or showcase of items to stimulate conversation, discussion, sales or purchases.
- Collecting is not static, it often starts out as one type and then grows into other specialties / genres- Warning, it’s all addictive!
- See something that intrigues?, then approach the member; if it is something that you feel would be a great discussion item at one of our meetings, then suggest or better still participate, presentations aren’t always one person shows and displays whether physical or visual foster the more the educational / interesting.
Please contact us at MemberShowcase if you are interested to display pieces of your collection in this area.
RUSS SMITH
“My interests are primarily in clocks. I started after I retired about 12 years ago and like many I started out to be an expert in one type, Canadian content clocks in my case, until I discovered US clocks, and then through contacts in the NAWCC German, Austrian, French, English, Scottish…yes, it’s hard to stay focused. Collecting for me satisfies a mechanical intrigue that my accounting career could not but also has been a great way to network and befriend with like-minded people and has paved the way for travelling to NAWCC shows in the US, various museums, viewing other collections and ultimately for me, Europe.”
